This is my second Samsung Galaxy AI Festival event for this year, which happened on July 13, 2024. On January 27, I previously attended the first event, which was also held at the same venue in the heart of BGC, Taguig City.
The Samsung Galaxy AI Festival 2024: Unfold A New Era was an evening of innovation and entertainment as it featured the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy devices, the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold6. On the other hand, it was also a night of music headlined by K-pop star Xiumin from EXO, HORI7ON, BINI, Juan Karlos, and Maki.
The venue is jam-packed, and it was also seen on social media that some fans had already been there since morning. It was announced that the approximate crowd is around forty thousand, as they are all eager to see the performances of their idols.
I arrived at the venue around 4 PM, had a hard time locating the media registration area as the venue is very crowded.
I covered the event with my partner for MCJ, Arielle, along with other people from other media outlets, including Kevin and Dwayne from Manila Concert Scenes. Also bumped with beauty queen and athlete Faith Garcia.
The event began around 5:30 p.m. as host Janeena Chan welcomed the crowd and announced what to expect throughout the evening.
MAKI
Rising Filipino artist Maki kicked off the event performing his hits including the trending song "Dilaw".
BINI
One of the most awaited performances for the night is from the nation's girl group BINI, who have been all over the news because of their trending songs and concerts. The group performed early, as they will be flying to Cebu for their concert. Member Mikha is also not with them because of her reported injury.
They performed "Lagi," "Salamin, Salamin," "Pantropiko," and "Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi."
JUAN KARLOS
My third time watching Juan Karlos live. The first was during the Last Rakrakan Festival, then the KFC event, and now here at the Samsung event.
I always enjoy his onstage performance and, of course, his songs live. He and his band performed my favorite songs: "Sad Songs and BS," "Buwan," and "Ere."
HORI7ON
South Korea-based all-Filipino boy group also graced the stage as they performed their hit songs "Lucky," "SIX7EEN," "Dash," and "Hit Me."
XIUMIN (EXO)
South Korean K-pop star Xiumin returns to Manila to meet his fans and also promote the brand.
I was able to cover his previous visit when he performed with fellow EXO member Chen at the "Be You 2" event in December 2022.
His performance energized the crowd when he performed "Serenity," "Brand New," and "Beyond."
Actress Janine Gutierrez also attended the event and shared how she loves her Samsung Galaxy phone and how it aids her in her daily activities.
