MLBB M5 World Championship Grand Finals in Manila

I covered the Grand Finals and the last day of the MLBB M5 World Championship between AP.Bren and Onic Esports, which took place at Rizal Memorial on December 17, 2023.

This is the first M-series and the largest Mobile Legends: Bang Bang event in the Philippines. It commenced at the EVM Convention Center for the Group Stage and Knockout Stage 1, and later moved to the Rizal Coliseum for the Knockout Stage 2 and Finals.

The M-series consists of 16 teams from different countries battling to determine the best team in the world.

The venue is packed with fans and supporters as early as noon, eager to watch the finals live.

A mini stage has been set up for the watch party at the Rizal Baseball field, allowing fans to watch the finals for free. Different booths offering merchandise and food are also available in the field.

I arrived at the venue around 4 PM and successfully obtained my media ID to cover the event. I checked the booths while waiting for the event to start.

I covered the event with my fellow photographer, Noel, from Tiebreaker Times. The finals began at around 7 PM with a grand opening, followed by an immediate match between AP.Bren and Onic Esports.

Before the finals, it was also announced that the M6 World Championship will be held at Malaysia next year.

(Host - Mara Aquino and Mikee Reyes)

(Casters - Brigida and Odin)

It was a nail-biting series, as both teams were determined to win the championship. AP.Bren outlasted Onic in the series with a score of 4-3, becoming the first team to win twice in the M-series and keeping the crown in the Philippines for four consecutive years since M2.

The game ended around 12:30 AM, including the awarding of the champions.

I am very happy to see some of my friends who attended the event, as well as the players and members of the media. This has been an amazing final day of coverage, and I am looking forward to the next esports event next year.

I also met the cosplayer and actress Myrtle Sarrosa, who attended the event. We worked together from 2015 to 2016 for two seasons of the NCAA tournament under ABS-CBN.

Lastly, I also met Cyndi Yuvia, a former member of the idol group JKT48.

She is now with EVOS Legends and is known as EVOS Yupi. She attended the M5 tournament to support Team Indonesia.

Congratulations to the winners and to Moonton Games for the successful M5 World Championship event in Manila. Also, to the head of PR, Boss Keith.
