Comic Con Asia 2018

Every year we are always looking forward for big geek conventions such as Toycon PH and AsiaPop Comicon Manila and early this year it was announced that there will be a new event called Comic Con Asia which was held at SMX Convention Center in Pasay from March 24-25, 2018.

Boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is the brand ambassador of the event and a few months before the event it was announced that Hayley Atwell will be one of the guest and Stan Lee, unfortunately both guest got canceled due to health issues for Stan Lee and schedule conflict with Hayley. Though it was disappointing, me and my friends still decided to attend the event. I also got accredited as a member of the media under ABS-CBN News.

The featured guest for the event are Teen Wolf's Holland Roden, Dacre Montgomery from the Power Rangers the movie and Walter Jones from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series. Overwatch voice actors Jen Cohn, Feodor Chin, Carolina Ravassa and Anjali Bhimani also had a panel and meet and greet with their fans. 

Just like the other conventions, the event featured anime, comics, gaming, TV shows and movies. 

COSPLAY

There's a lot of cosplayers in the venue and I was able to see my fellow sports photographer friends Emong and Flavius and we did take photos of the cosplayers and the guest.

I was able to meet Linda Lee in the previous APCC event and it's nice to see her back in the country.

Filipina actress and cosplayer is also part of the guest. She has a booth to meet her fans. She also sells prints.

COMICS

There are also a part of the convention that features comic book artist like Carlo Pagulayan, Harvey Tolibao and Alex Milne.

There is also an area dedicated for the legendary Stan Lee. Signed comics and photos are being sold.

GAMING

TOYS

ABS-CBN booth features sculptures of Filipino superheroes by Halimaw Studios and also cosplayers.

There are also toy collections on display and toys for sale.

It was also nice seeing friends who are in the venue like Aya Esmeria who is a host and cosplayer.

It was nice meeting some of the guest, friends and cosplayers in the venue.

I did enjoy the event though it lacks a lot of stuff if you will compare it with APCC and Toycon. Hopefully they event organizer can bring more guest and offer more next year.
